Vancouver, August 15, 2006—Plum, a west coast fashion house and 25-year retail veteran will launch a 4,100 sq. ft. boutique in Calgary’s popular Westhills Town Centre, on Labour Day Weekend. According to Kate O’Brien, owner and head of merchandising at Plum, Calgary’s fashionistas have been asking for a store of their own for some time.
“Calgary women love shopping in our Vancouver, Victoria and Kelowna stores and rave about our clothes, and many have suggested we open in Alberta,” explains O’Brien. “So we visited Calgary on a number of occasions and saw how well the women were dressed and thought it would be a great market for us.”
With Plum’s arrival, Westhills’ shoppers can look forward to accessible fashions for the everyday woman, including a mix of sexy suiting, playful dresses, tailored jackets, trendy accessories and basics like relaxed tees and cashmere blend sweaters.
“The Westhills store will carry a wide variety of fashions for day and night, including our popular in-house lines Plum and Tobias, and key brands such as Dex, Vera Moda and Kenzie,” says O’Brien.
Plum’s latest addition, in-house designer Claudia Agusti, was raised in Calgary and welcomed the opportunity to design for women in her hometown.
“I think Plum’s feminine fashions are perfect for Calgary and I am very eager to see the response,” says Agusti. “We’ve filled the new store with must-have pieces for fall as seen in all of the fashion magazines but modified for every day life.”
Plum’s fall collection reflects a mix of sophistication and playfulness that will appeal to wide range of women. Plaids, textured fabrics and tailored pieces echo the international runways but with a twist – these are outfits women can wear to the grocery store, to the playground and out on the town.
“We think fashion should be fun,” explains Agusti. “We encourage Plum shoppers to explore new styles and play with their looks, and we provide fashions that help them do just that.”
